Qualitative tiles: why we avoid fake precision

Hospitality pacing sits on shifting sand: group blocks change, weather surprises, and partner campaigns land late. Numeric tiles look authoritative, but they often encode guesses. We prefer qualitative tiles with rationale fields so teams record why a band was chosen.

Rationale fields also age better. When someone revisits a decision weeks later, the note explains intent even if inputs changed. Numeric tiles rarely carry intent; they carry outputs that may no longer make sense.

We still support exports to your internal models if you have disciplined data science. The workspace does not pretend to replace that work. It gives operators a shared surface that feeds your deeper models with cleaner context.

The tradeoff is speed. Qualitative tiles feel slower at first because people must write. Over a quarter, teams report fewer thrashy reversals, which saves more time than the typing cost.
